Infection Preventionist, Infection Prevention – Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian- NEWPORT BEACH, CA: FULL-TIME
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for working on a daily basis to provide comprehensive surveillance, consultation and ongoing education related to infection prevention and epidemiology practices to hospital and ambulatory care departments. The Infection Preventionist also coordinates activities to support the ongoing framework for implementation of the Infection Prevention Program, including development of policies and procedures, organization of Infection Prevention Committee and environmental rounds. Collaborate with employee health department for surveillance of employees, physicians and patients exposed to a communicable disease requiring follow-up and immunization. Investigate outbreaks of infection and unusual occurrences on resistant organisms and designs intervention for their control. Participates in the development of the Risk Assessment and Goals to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organization and healthcare agencies.
Infection Preventionist is responsible for presenting data, facilitating and following up on multidisciplinary team meetings, and carrying out projects as assigned. The IP will be responsible of accurate retrieval, validation, and presentation of Infection Prevention data. The IP will also be responsible for entering and validating NHSN data and other quality metrics.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited School with certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) or Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing, Public Health or Epidemiology.
- CIC – Certification in Infection Control required within 2 years of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health or Epidemiology.
- Two (2) years’ experience in Infection Prevention.
- Experience with data collecting, analyzing, and presenting data.
Pay Rate: $49.15 – $75.94 per hour
Infection Preventionist, Epidemiology – Rady’s Health (CHOC) MAIN CAMPUS- ORANGE, CA: FULL-TIME
The Infection Preventionist conducts organization-wide surveillance, reporting of communicable diseases to public health, monitors environment for infection prevention and control risks, and provides educational/in-service activities that support the organization-wide infection control program, including inpatient and ambulatory. The ideal candidate will have acute care infection prevention experience with a pediatric population.
Required Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care setting.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, lab/health science, public health or related health field. If RN Certification in Infection Control, then BSN required within three years of hire.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CDC, CAL OSHA, CDPH standards for infection prevention and control.
- Project management skills. Knowledge of CDC-NHSN definitions, software and data analysis. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations. Strong organization and prioritizing skills; strong verbal and written communications; strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, and strong computer skills.
- Certified in Infection Prevention and Control within two years of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in infection control & epidemiology.

Infection Prevention Manager 1, Infection Prevention – UCI Health- ORANGE, CA: FULL-TIME
UCI Health is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Infection Prevention Manager to oversee the daily operations of the inpatient infection prevention team at UCI Health – Orange. This is a critical leadership role that will provide direct support to the inpatient infection prevention team and serve as the on-site resource for complex challenges as they arise.
Required Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of all relevant healthcare information technology and infection control workflows and processes.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a management or leadership role within a hospital or health care organization
- Five years experience in a healthcare or public health setting
